About Me
Hi there, my name is Martin Kolb.
I work as a teacher for business administration and English at a vocational college in Bayreuth, Germany. Before that I studied Wirtschaftspädagogik, a special German course of studies for business pedagogy. Professionally I am especially interested in teaching students in e-commerce. I was the contact person behind the Erasmus+ project “Fit for E-Commerce”.
For my diploma thesis in 2004 I created a web-based system called “VT-learn” for creating and correcting online tests which was in use at the Lehrstuhl für Wirtschaftspädagogik und Personalentwicklung of the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg for about seven years. The system was coded in PHP and Javascript and included the possibilty to create tasks for students with open, multiple-choice, sorting and matching tasks. For administration you could use a super cool desktop application coded in Java using SwingUI.
More recently I developed a macOS app for creating gapped texts and cloze tests called Gapped and Docxtor an app for converting office documents. Both apps are written in RubyMotion which is a Rubyesque way to write apps for iOS, Android and macOS.
Currently I am more into coding web apps with Ruby on Rails. My newest project is a digital board application with a focus on educational use.
My other interests are everything about Apple Macintosh Computers, playing guitar, photography, cycling, woodworking and of course our two pets Manni the cat and Charlie the dog…
